The Cabin
About the Cabin Accommodations:
The Artist Retreat is located in a true wilderness setting. While there are year-round residents at Crag Lake, it is a relatively remote area. The cabin is 14 kilometres from the village of Carcross and is 90 kilometres from Whitehorse. There is abundant wildlife in the immediate vicinity including deer, moose, rabbits, eagles, black bears, grizzly bears, sheep and wolves.
The cabin is a two-storey log home and studio. On the first floor is a 900 sq. ft. living space with one bedroom which accommodates an independent artist, or an artist couple. The second floor of the cabin is a 900 sq. ft. open studio with large windows overlooking the forest and Crag Lake. There is a daybed in an alcove of the studio that can accommodate a second sleeping area.
During the summer months there is a screened in porch with a fold-out couch, and additional studio space to be found in Ted Harrison's original one room log cabin.
Please Note:
• No smoking or pets are allowed inside the cabin.
• The Retreat is on a water delivery system, and artists are asked to conserve water as much as possible.
• Artists in residents are responsible for providing any specialized equipment required for research, development and production of their proposed project. Please contact us for a list of limited available equipment.
